Mobile workstation Regula 8304

The workstation is intended for automatic reading and authenticity verification of passports, ID cards, driving licences, visas and other documents. The device performs recognition of text data and barcodes, reading RFID tags.

The workstation can also be used for advanced examination of passports, ID cards and other travel documents, visa stamps and seals, including but not limited to entry permits, banknotes, driving licenses, vehicle registration certificates and other vehicle related documents, signatures and handwriting fragments, revenue and special stamps, securities and other documents with security features.

The function of fingerprint scanning and verification is available.

Regula 8304 is designed as a mobile complex in a protective case. It consists of the following major parts: a laptop (model is selected at customer’s request), a built-in optical document reader, a built-in light table, a spectral luminescent magnifier Regula 4177 supported by Regula Forensic Studio software and a compact device Regula 1019.01. The workstation can be used as portable (powered by a battery pack) or stationery (powered from the AC mains) equipment.

The workstation document reader enables to capture images in white, infrared, ultraviolet, coaxial illumination and to read data from RFID tags. Regula 8304 is optionally equipped with a fingerprint scanner. The workstation operation is controlled via Regula Document Reader SDK.

      • traces of signature forgery

      • extraneous lines (do not originally belong to the examined object) that are performed with IR opaque inks

      • blurred, crossed out entries, texts and images

      • document mechanical defects such as cuts, tears, folds, etc.

Workstation operation

  1. The optical reader automatically detects a document in the reader slot.

  2. Images of the document in functional illumination modes are formed. At the same time data from an RFID tag is read out.

  3. A fingerprint is scanned.

  4. Obtained data are processed by Regula Document Reader SDK.

  5. The results of processing are available for further use.

  6. Document authenticity control is carried out using:

    • compact device Regula 1019.01

    • spectral luminescent magnifier Regula 4177 together with Regula Forensic Studio software for displaying video on a monitor, device control, saving and processing images

    • object stage with a light transmitting screen
